Well not really, you do NOT need a Battery Fuel Cell per se to power an Electric Motor...
Basically, a fuel cell is a source for Energy with a finite amount of Capacity per Unit mass/volume, known as Gravimetric/Volumetric Energy Density
Of course you never get that in real-life. I'll share the analysis based on real-life average range of ~92% EPA Range for seasonal changes and typical city/highway driving
Now, Let's find out which of the two EVs is the better option over an assumed lifetime mileage

As per the analysis above, while Battery fuel cell EVs make a good case in terms of immediate fuel costs and overall emissions, the choice of Fuel Cell Energy Source makes all the difference
